The Perfect Jamaican Smile

As promised, the secret recipe for the Jamaican Smile. This is a drink I had in Jamaica last year at the Sandals Resort in Montego Bay. It is one of those drink that you find yourself saying, "You know I cant even taste the rum in this." Then you find yourself having trouble getting out of your chair an hour later. Drink at your own risk!

Also, it has been brought to my attention that there may be other folks who have tried to perfect this drink. I challenge them to post their recipe so you can compare.

Jamaican Smile

Ingredients

Yield: 2/16oz drinks

1/2 Bag of Kroger Private Selection Fruit Blend for Smoothies. Which is 3/4 cup of mixed frozen fruit consisting of Mango's Pineapple and Strawberries.
1 cup of milk (skim/whole/soy)
1 cup of orange juice
1/2 banana
2 rounded scoops of vanilla frozen yogurt
1/2 cup of ice (add or subtract based on desired consistency)
1/2 cup of Appleton Jamaican Rum (add or subtract based on desired drunkenness)

Instructions

1. Add smoothie mix, milk, orange juice, frozen yogurt, and ice to your mixer.
2. Blend until you have a smoothie consistency. Add more ice if necessary.
3. Serve with wedge of orange and a straw.
4. Enjoy!

For added punch you can fill the straw with Rum before serving, it makes for a funny trick to play on a unsuspected spouse.

Holy Waste Of Time, Batman

I know I promised everyone the recipe for Jamaica Smiles, but I am still working on the correct breakdown of ingredients. So for now I wanted to bring you something funny to hold you over. This story ran locally here in Cincinnati and well it just made me laugh. In all fairness this guy is tying to do good but unfortunately for him it is just too funny. I can't say I am sleeping any better at night knowing he is patrolling the streets.

Jogging In Quicksand

Hi there, I know its been a while since I have updated the blog and well its been kind of a long week. Been struggling with some personal demons and well I think it has passed, for now. It seems sometimes you think you are moving just fine and then BAM! You are hit upside the head with thoughts and emotions that you are not prepared to deal with at that moment. I won't bore you with my issues but lets just say when making a life and career change creates some drama in my head. I have seemed to sort it out for the moment and I believe it is just a speedbump on my road to greatness...okay I would take meritocracy.

So how do you deal the pesky demons? What do you do? Do you turn a blind eye to them or do you just ignore them and move on with life. Most would say I suppose that they have their own way to deal with the demons of doubt. I know some of you don't have to deal with them because you are very confident. You are lucky. For me I question everything and sometimes the answers I get don't add up. Sometimes in life I feel like I am jogging in quicksand. Trying to move faster than I should and end up sputtering like a beetle on its back. Where you able to visualize that? I hope so.

So as I jog I look forward to an exciting but scary path to the next chapter of my life. What does it bring? I am not sure, but I can say if I stay committed I should be fine. I often look back to look forward. What I mean is that this week I thought what would my Dad say when I presented him with all these issues. I think he would say, " Ken, you know all you can do is do you best. If your best isn't good enough then try harder." Thanks Dad.
