The Perfect Jamaican Smile

As promised, the secret recipe for the Jamaican Smile. This is a drink I had in Jamaica last year at the Sandals Resort in Montego Bay. It is one of those drink that you find yourself saying, "You know I cant even taste the rum in this." Then you find yourself having trouble getting out of your chair an hour later. Drink at your own risk!

Also, it has been brought to my attention that there may be other folks who have tried to perfect this drink. I challenge them to post their recipe so you can compare.

Jamaican Smile

Ingredients

Yield: 2/16oz drinks

1/2 Bag of Kroger Private Selection Fruit Blend for Smoothies. Which is 3/4 cup of mixed frozen fruit consisting of Mango's Pineapple and Strawberries.
1 cup of milk (skim/whole/soy)
1 cup of orange juice
1/2 banana
2 rounded scoops of vanilla frozen yogurt
1/2 cup of ice (add or subtract based on desired consistency)
1/2 cup of Appleton Jamaican Rum (add or subtract based on desired drunkenness)

Instructions

1. Add smoothie mix, milk, orange juice, frozen yogurt, and ice to your mixer.
2. Blend until you have a smoothie consistency. Add more ice if necessary.
3. Serve with wedge of orange and a straw.
4. Enjoy!

For added punch you can fill the straw with Rum before serving, it makes for a funny trick to play on a unsuspected spouse.

I was at Sandals Royal Caribbean this past week and my new wife and I loved the Jamaican Smiles. I thought I remember them putting vodca in it also.

Hmmm, maybe they have changed it up a little then. Go ahead and add Vodka, I am sure it wouldn't hurt. I guess its time to revisit for research of course. Thanks for the heads up.

As Jamaicans living oversees, we are happy to see this! Pity we are out of Appleton Rum though... you know how chefs are with good spirits :D Will bookmark to try when next we have rum and a party!

We were just there and loved this drink. I've noticed that they make them different each time. Ours was made with pinneaples, coconut, strawberries (syrup), bananas, rum and rum cream. It was a very pink color. It was like a strawberry shake but much lighter. No stomach pain afterwards only a really awesome buzz.
